ASSASSIN’S CREED: A Gamer’s Wet Dream!

I want to imagine the pressure a studio faces in order to satisfy the millions of game geeks around the world must be murderous and Herculean (see how I used geeks and not nerds? that’s a lesson for another day). I won’t even want to imagine the amount of people who must have lost their jobs just so the geekdom could be satisfied. A lot less than the cinematic flop ‘Resident Evil’ I hope.

To whom much is given, a lot of returns on investment is expected back!

A lot of gamers, myself included? ;), have given so much time, thumbs and love to Assassin’s Creed series; played every installment, followed every rumor about a movie for years and when the movie was finally announced, we were ecstatic and some of us even started planning our marriage to Michael Fassbender. I ticked the calendar till the released date and till I saw it! Darn! Was I glad I did!

I am sure, like a lot of other geeks, some things were expected to confirm the authenticity of the movie, you know, just to make sure the makers were members of the fold and not some clueless studio execs looking to making money from a sacred followership. The Animus and its service as a conduit to the tapping of genetic memory, the age old rivalry between the Templar Order and the Assassin’s Order. The acrobatics, The Apple of Eden, The Leap of Faith… Those alone, guaranteed the movie 6/10 for me.

The introduction of a whole new character was very welcome- even though he may not be in the class of my personal favorite, EizoAuditore; of course, nobody wants to see a character we have already played, what would be the point? I mean!

“Beyond that, I think I speak for the geekdom, when I say Assassin’s Creed is the best movie adaptation of a video game made till date and also sports the best cast in any adaptation of its genre”

As a movie lover and not a gamer, one might say the movie was not exactly where it was supposed to be. Although the story-line was amazing, the acting fantastic and the action sequences badass, the CGI(Computer Graphics Interface) was quite dizzying #kilode! Somethings will show up and I will be like, hmmmm! A gamer however would understand what they’re trying to achieve. But like they say, less is more.

Beyond that, I think I speak for the geekdom, when I say Assassin’s Creed is the best movie adaptation of a video game made till date and also sports the best cast in any adaptation of its genre. Michael Fassbender was a joy to watch in that role. The end being the best part shows the reigniting of an old rivalry, the rise of an old enemy and the rising from the ashes of The Assassin’s Order.
